I joined CSI in 1980. That decision was one of the best for my entire career. It can be for you too.
The network and friends are nearly family.
Just today in NYC at the DHI Convention, I met Doug Casper, a CSI member and architect with The Port Authority of NY & NJ. Doug offered that he knew of me because of CSI. Then he proceeded to tell me that another CSI member had praised our work in a recent meeting with Doug. Wow, and all I did was say "Hello, I am Dave Stutzman."
This weekend, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is running a Special Offer. Beginning today, through October 31, you can join the CSI and pay only $192 for national dues -- a 20% savings.

But please don't stop at Institute. Find your local chapter and join the chapter too. That is where you really begin to build your CSI network. After joining, attend the regular meetings and get involved. Join a committee and contribute to the chapter. This will speed getting to know the members and allowing them to get to know you.
This was the same advice I gave yesterday to a product representative. We will meet to discuss a project, but rest assured I will press the CSI membership as a wise investment. I am hopeful I will see him at a future CSI meeting. I will be sending him a link to this blog posting as an incentive to join.
You will get out of CSI what you are willing to contribute. CSI can work as well for you as it has for me. Please tell me when you decide to join so we may be able to meet at a future CSI event.
