Martin "Marty" Thornton, II
Senior Specifications Writer
With decades of experience as both an architect and specifier, Marty brings a deep understanding of design, construction, project management, and the technical details that carry a project from concept through completion.
Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for strong technical knowledge and a commitment to getting the details right. His experience in architecture, specifications, and project management gives him a broad perspective on how construction documents come together and how decisions made throughout the design process affect the final project.
Just as important to Marty is sharing that knowledge with others. He is dedicated to educating and mentoring professionals throughout the industry, helping others better understand specifications, construction documents, and the technical principles behind them. His extensive involvement with the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) reflects that commitment and has provided opportunities to learn from, teach, and build relationships with professionals across the industry.
Knowledge has the greatest value when you share it.
Having grown up in Ohio and attended both The Ohio State University and Youngstown State University, Marty carries that Buckeye pride with him wherever he goes. His career reflects the same qualities he brings to education: technical knowledge, curiosity, experience, and a genuine desire to help others become better at what they do.
